TRIBUS AND MVI DRIVE ZERO EMISSIONS WITH 68 VOLKSWAGEN E-CRAFTERS!

  • Sustainable: emission-free wheelchair transport contributes to reducing loneliness
  • e-Crafter: comfortable, quiet, can be driven with driver’s license B, wide range
  • 68 electrically powered e-Crafter wheelchair accessible minibuses for non-profit organizations

Foundation MVI goes for large scale zero emission passenger transport in the Netherlands with 68 Volkswagen e-Crafters!

MVI Foundation (Mobility For Everyone) has placed an order with Volkswagen Bedrijfswagens for the delivery of 68 electrically powered e-Crafter wheelchair accessible minibuses. This makes MVI the first major transporter to make emission-free wheelchair transport for the healthcare market possible on a large scale this year.

Due to the WMO-2015 Act, healthcare transport is only partially or even no longer reimbursed. MVI Foundation still allows wheelchair transport for less mobile elderly people to, for example, healthcare institutions or day care, by focusing on the financing, purchase and smart operation of healthcare transport. For example, MVI contributes to combating the loneliness of the elderly.

For MVI, which operates on a non-profit basis, 2020 will be dominated by the roll-out of environmentally friendly, electric healthcare transport. MVI’s basic principles for completing this were low costs (lower than for diesel models), comfort (to be driven with driving license B), good and simple charging options and immediate availability.

THE VOLKSWAGEN E-CRAFTER WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE MINIBUS SCORES ON ALL KEY-POINTS

For the MVI Foundation, the Volkswagen e-Crafter wheelchair accessible minibus meets all their requirements. The wheelchair minibus – developed in collaboration with conversion specialist Tribus – has two easily accessible wheelchair places. When not in use, eight full-size seats are available. Driving license B is sufficient to drive the bus. The e-Crafter wheelchair bus has a range of 173 km * and is suitable for fast charging with 40 kW. This means, among other things, that the battery pack can be charged to 80% in 45 minutes. Full charging takes one hour. In addition, the e-Crafter offers a high level of comfort and the assurance of an 8-year warranty on the battery. In addition, maintenance for the first 8 years is included, which contributes to favorable operating costs.

MVI FOUNDATION USES 68 VOLKSWAGEN E-CRAFTER WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE MINIBUSES THROUGHOUT THE NETHERLANDS

MVI will initially use 68 Volkswagen e-Crafter wheelchair buses which have been adapted by EMG Member Tribus. This number is expected to reach 100 buses this year. MVI is therefore able to offer affordable, whisper-quiet, comfortable and sustainable transport to vulnerable and disabled people throughout the Netherlands. The e-Crafter wheelchair buses are supplied by Auto Muntstad, Volkswagen Pon Financial Services is the party that facilitates the financial lease construction. Service House provides the necessary infrastructure for charging the e-Crafters at the various care homes.

*) The specified range was created after driving the test rounds according to the applicable emission standard in Europe (NEDC). In practice, the actual range may differ. It depends on the driving style, speed, choice of tires, use of comfort and external functions, outside temperature, number of passengers / load and driving conditions. Electricity consumption in kWh / 100 km: 21.5 (average), CO₂ emissions in g/km: 0 (refers to the CO₂ emissions while driving. The total CO₂ emissions depend on the way the power is generated. That is why Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles recommends use of green energy). Please contact your local Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle dealer for details on standard equipment and options.
